Rain Washes Tide Out Again
Apr 26, 2010
Bronx, New York --
For the most part, these first three weeks of the season, the New York RipTide had not demonstrated the characteristics typical of their division champion teams. The pitching has been both spotty and thin and the defense has been downright shoddy putting the team 3.5 games out of first place after only playing 2 games.
If nothing else, however, this weekend’s second rain out provided a welcome reprieve to get their minds focused and light a fire inside the team for the upcoming double header against the NYPD. The team has now had their last 4 games rained out by some unusually wet April storms. This month alone the rainfall has totaled over 5 inches of rain when the average rainfall is less than 3 inches this time of the year. “It’s crazy” said team Managing Director Jonathan Zeron “We will have 75 degree days all week and when we are supposed to play the skies open up” The weather has hampered the RipTide all spring as they canceled 6 exhibitions due to 2 snowstorms and 2 nor’easters.
The RipTide plan to get this weekend’s doubleheader in as the skies are expected to be clear with a balmy 80 degrees predicted for Sundays match up. First pitch of Game 1 is expected at 12:05PM.
